To think just a few months ago I had done a 10k race and here I am struggling on the first couple of hundred yards of my run. I remember once seeing elite athletes training with chains wrapped around their waists, tied to lorry tires. This is how it felt. Eventually after a few weeks of this I decided to weigh myself. My version of weighing scales has a speaker, and it prompted,
“Stand one at a time please. But if it’s only one person you are one fat git mate.”
In 1942 a team of scientists headed by Harry Coover Jr, accidently discovered a curious substance that annoyingly stuck to everything it came into contact with, within seconds. Rejected initially it would be nine years before it’s true commercial potential would be realised. Cyanoacrylates were born. We know them better as super glue. From medical to veterinary, rock climbing to forensic science, the uses of superglue are endless.
It’s my birthday today. Happy birthday me 🙂
The British comedian, Peter Kay, has a famous sketch where he describes the Hobnob biscuit as the hardman of the biscuit world. Whereas other biscuits like Rich Tea cry, wither and then quickly disintegrate in a hot cup of tea the hard nut Hobnob is the commando of the biscuit world. It will stay intact and dare the tea drinker to ‘bring it on’. I try not to swear if I can. I used to swear like a trooper when I was younger so it can still be a challenge at times. I am going to swear in this blog a lot so ‘biscuit’ will be the new swear word of choice.
